Honey soy chicken wings with sesame by Yummy Calories

Honey soy chicken wings are my go-to when I unexpectedly have chicken wings. It’s a funny story but I thought I had defrosted some chicken drumsticks but they turned out to be chicken wing pieces. Not quite the curry I was expecting so I decided to roast them. I had two bags of sesame seeds (because I forgot I had some at home and bought another new bag) so I was eager to use them up. There were only so many things I can put sesame seeds in and so I decided I could make some roast chicken wings with sesame seeds.

Serves 6 (approx. 506 calories per serve)

Prep time 10 mins
Cook time 50 minutes.

Ingredients
2kg of chicken wing pieces
4 tbsp soy sauce
100g honey
2 1/2 tsp ginger powder
2 1/2 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp sesame seeds

Note: I use a roasting tray like this. It comes with a rack, which you can remove.

Preheat the oven to 180C.

Mix all the ingredients, except the sesame seeds, into a bowl. You can let it marinade for half an hour or so but I was hungry and just put it straight into the oven.

Line a baking tray with baking paper and place the wings in one layer on to the tray.

Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, turning them over halfway through cooking.

Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top and place back into the oven for a further 10 minutes, this time increasing the temperature of the oven to 200C to get a nice char on top.

Serve with rice or other side of choice. Enjoy your honey soy chicken wings!
