I don’t really eat a whole lot of sweets. I’m more of a savoury person. When I have to choose between a cheese platter or a piece of cake for dessert, I would usually go for the cheese platter. However all that changed when I got pregnant … especially after 6 months. I’m having a little girl … and those old wives’ tales about craving more sweets when you have girls is ringing true for me. I could literally eat cake for dinner (and have done so … once). Today I woke up and all I could think about was eating something sweet for breakfast … so this is my guilty secret French toast.

Prep time 5 mins
Cook time 10 mins
Ingredients
2 slices of days old bread
1 egg
60ml whole milk
2 tsp cinnamon sugar (if you don’t have it, just use cinnamon)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp condensed milk
1 spray of canola oil
a handful of blueberries
Mix the egg, milk, cinnamon sugar and vanilla essence together in a bowl. Pour evenly across the bread until they are soaked through.
Heat a large pan with a slight spray of canola oil on medium to low heat. Cook the soaked bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
Drizzle the condensed milk on top of the cooked slices and top with a handful of blueberries.
